📑Lesson Plans
📘English Lesson Plan (12th Grade)
This document shows that I can create a lesson plan that includes formative and summative assessments. The formative and summative assessments included are meant to assess student's knowledge of the topic of Aristotelian appeals. This plan can be used for English classes at the k-12 level. This piece of evidence shows that I have learned how to use the understanding-by-design lesson plan method. I learned how to set learning goals based on content standards. I also learned how to distinguish between performance goals and knowledge goals and how to condense all of this information in a detailed lesson plan that any educator can reuse without my help. For instance, in this lesson plan, I started my lesson by identifying a learning goal (common core standard). Then, I used the sideway method to identify essential questions and knowledge skills. Then, I created a summative assessment (performance task) for the lesson identified the evaluative criteria for the assessment, and used it to create a rubric. One of the most valuable lessons I learned when creating this lesson plan was that educators must create a sample of the student's work. This helps educators to identify clear performance tasks and evaluative criteria.Â
📘Critical Literacies English Lesson Plan (9th - 12th Grades)
In this lesson plan, I use the "counter-storytelling" strategy to teach about non-dominant narratives. This plan can be used with students at the k-12 level. One of the main challenges of this lesson was to incorporate discussions regarding critical literacies while at the same time keeping clear learning goals based on the core-standards. Â
