I’m Nelson, an educator and curriculum designer.

I teach and design curriculum in K‑12 schools in Massachusetts. From teaching music to middle schoolers in El Salvador to leading a world languages department, I build learning experiences that spark students’ interest in their own education.

What I work on

Curriculum design, assessment, lesson planning, educational technology and student motivation.

I enjoy learning about how learning happens and what makes curriculum engaging and meaningful. I’ve taken on leadership roles while developing curriculum from the ground up in private school settings.

I also have a strong foundation in special education through my graduate coursework, applying a variety of strategies to differentiate instruction. The part of differentiation I enjoy most is educational technology — I build applications that support learning in my own courses using low-code tools, while staying careful that technology stays a tool that removes barriers rather than a replacement for the human parts of teaching.

My short-term goal is to become a great educator. My long-term goal is to support educational systems in Latin American countries that need better education.

Where is the line between formative and summative assessment?
When does an assessment become high-stakes, and what does that do to student thinking and motivation?
Are grades measuring understanding, compliance, effort — or all three?
How can learning feel meaningful rather than transactional?
How does fear of failure shape student behavior in the classroom?
When does memorization support fluency in language learning, and when does it replace it?
